Botanist

The Opportunity

To service ongoing workloads, we are seeking an experienced Botanist to join our existing specialist team.   

Our highly-regarded and dynamic team of specialist botanists require an experienced addition to assist with our ongoing workload of interesting projects. 

The role will require the successful candidate to contribute to all aspects of biological assessment projects, particularly flora and vegetation assessments and monitoring programs. 

A remuneration package commensurate with experience level applies to this role. 

The role:  

  • Desktop assessments 
  • Field study scoping and design 
  • HSE, travel and logistics for field trips  
  • Field work, including to remote and exciting locations  
  • Vegetation mapping and related spatial data management  
  • GIS/mapping 
  • Technical reporting of biological assessments and monitoring desktop and field results  
  • Report technical review 

Depending on experience and aspirations, there may also be opportunities for contributions to:  

  • Environmental impact assessments, approvals and environmental management projects  
  • Zoological/fauna studies  
  • Project management  
  • Team leadership  
  • Business development and marketing  
  • Business strategy planning  

About You

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Bachelor degree (minimum) in botany, ecology, biological science, environmental science or equivalent  
  • minimum 4 years’ relevant experience (in flora and vegetation assessments, preferably in Western Australia)  
  • demonstrated familiarity with current Technical Guidance for flora and vegetation surveys  
  • willingness to travel for field assessments, including to remote locations  
  • experience in the preparation of, or contributions to technical biological assessment reports  
  • the ability to lead and manage teams and projects 
  • excellent written communication skills  
  • current Western Australian C-class driver’s licence  
  • take pride in delivering high-quality outputs  
  • a strong client focus 
  • being a solid team player 

Candidates who meet the following criteria will be highly regarded:  

  • proven track record in an environmental consulting team   
  • experience in flora taxonomy 
  • knowledge of and/or experience in zoological assessments, in addition to botanical expertise  
  • environmental impact assessment and approvals experience  
  • experience in project management or co-ordination
