Environmental Management (EIA/Approvals) Team Leader

The Opportunity

Our well-established and growing team requires a Senior-Principal level environmental consultant to establish a new role of Environmental Management (EM) Team Leader, and lead the growth and development of our EM Team. 

The EM team works across environmental impact assessment (EIA), environmental approvals and environmental compliance. 

As the inaugural placement in this new role for the FVC business, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to put their stamp on the position, and lead the growth of this emerging team. 

The role will require the following contributions: 

  • Leading, mentoring, coaching and contributing to the career development of the EM team 
  • Growing the EM team via recruitment efforts 
  • Leading and taking ultimate responsibility for the delivery of EM projects 
  • Leading and co-ordinating personnel contributing to EM scopes of work 
  • Project management of individual EM projects  
  • Over-arching management of the portfolio of EM projects, including appropriate prioritisation and delegation 
  • Client relationship management  
  • Financial management of EM projects and budgets 
  • Tenders, proposals and quotes for EM scopes of work 
  • Assistance, as necessary, with the various technical and project management functions in technical teams outside the EM team 

A remuneration package commensurate with experience level, inclusive of incentive bonuses applies to this role. 

Depending on experience and aspirations, there are also opportunities for contributions to:

About You

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate: 

  • relevant tertiary qualification (degree minimum) in environmental science, environmental management, conservation or equivalent 
  • demonstrated familiarity with frameworks of the WA EPA, DWER, DMIRS and Commonwealth DCCEEW for environmental assessments, EIA, approvals and compliance  
  • the ability to lead EM projects at all scales 
  • aptitude for managing sub-consultants 
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • proven capabilities stakeholder consultation  
  • take pride in delivering high-quality outputs 
  • enjoy being part of a high-performing and supportive team 
  • a can-do attitude and willingness to work harmoniously with valued clients and a high-performing and supportive team  

Candidates who meet the following criteria will be highly regarded: 

  • proven track record in an environmental consulting team 
  • knowledge of and/or experience in biological values, assessments, monitoring and management
