Introducing Sarah
Early last year, one of our industry colleagues introduced us to a young Environmental Biology undergraduate, Sarah Beckwith, who was seeking a part-time internship to get a head-start on her practical industry experience.
Sarah had been chatting with their environmental consulting team, who specialise in invertebrate zoology. She might have gone onto helping them with work like sorting creepy-crawlies, but when she made it clear to them that her real passion is botany, our colleagues suggested an approach to FVC. It was opportune timing, as FVC’s in-house herbarium was very much in need of some love, and so, Sarah kicked things off with us in March 2022.
Fast forward a year and half and Sarah has now completed her studies and has been a full-time, permanent member of the FVC team since the start of 2023. In that time, we have been blown away at how quickly she has learnt the ropes of planning for, undertaking and reporting on biological assessments. FVC’s field trips have taken Sarah all across the State and her aptitude for learning the Western Australia flora is clear.
As well as being a talented up and coming environmental consultant, Sarah enjoys all manner of creative outlets such as painting, sewing, dancing, baking and cake decorating, she has a keen interest in health and wellness and has a love of the outdoors.
It’s not often that you come across people who are as passionate, intelligent, hard-working, friendly, motivated and authentic as Sarah, with such a bright career evidently ahead of her.
We are so grateful to have you as part of the team at FVC, Sarah!
