Kellie Bauer-Simpson

Managing Director & Principal

Kellie is a Director of FVC, an environmental manager and ecologist, with a specialty in botany, who has worked in the environmental consulting industry in Perth since 1999. She has managed and contributed to a wide range of projects for all market sectors. Kellie has significant experience in the management and execution of ecological assessments and monitoring that incorporate flora, vegetation, fauna, weeds and dieback, as well as environmental impact assessments and providing management recommendations, for all levels of assessment. She has participated in a number of development projects, including some of high profile, in the areas of environmental assessments and stakeholder and community consultation.

Kellie’s project management experience also extends to large-scale, multidisciplinary projects, incorporating environmental assessments, GIS mapping/spatial data management, engineering design, construction and operations.

Kellie has been accredited as a RABQSA internal auditor and is experienced in the preparation of Environmental Management Systems and environmental auditing, with a sound understanding of wider management systems including Quality Management Systems and Health and Safety Management Systems.

Will Bauer-Simpson

Operations Director & Advisor

Will is FVC’s Director of Operations and an experienced consultant with a wide range of skills and experience.  His environmental assessment experience includes assisting with the logistics and safety planning, field assistance and GIS.  Will is an experienced field assistant, having participated in dozens of field surveys ranging from vegetation mapping, targeted significant flora searches and targeted cockatoo habitat assessments.  He has well-developed skills in GIS and spatial data management and he leads the preparation of maps for biological assessment reports within FVC.  Will is a licensed aircraft pilot and holds a current CASA-endorsed Remote Pilot’s Licence (RePL) for drone operations, and he is the chief drone operator for FVC, assisting in the capture of imagery in the field, to enhance ecological mapping accuracy and efficiencies and for aerial photo-monitoring projects.  Will’s other expertise are the preparation, implementation and auditing of management systems, as well as site support roles in the areas of HSEQ.

John Braid

Principal Environmental Consultant

John is an environmental practitioner with almost 17 years’ experience in Perth.  He has specialised in the environmental approvals process for a significant number of development projects, with skills ranging from desktop reviews to formal environmental impact assessment under Western Australian State and Commonwealth legislation.  The majority of John’s professional experience has been in road infrastructure projects, and he is accomplished in having been the lead professional responsible for both approvals and in managing compliance for many of the State’s major road developments over the past decade.  In addition to being responsible for major road approvals projects and in leading teams that have supported these activities, John is also experienced in working in environmental consulting teams.  His key skills are in desktop assessments across all aspects of environmental and heritage values, complex and large-scale environmental impact assessments, environmental approvals applications under Part IV and V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, environmental compliance requirements for major projects, and community and regulatory stakeholder consultation.

Lisa Chappell

Senior Botanist/Environmental Scientist

Lisa is a Senior Botanist and Environmental Scientist who has worked in the environmental consulting industry in Perth since 2002. She has experience in botanical assessments, having undertaken field surveys all across Western Australia, in all bioregions. Lisa is experienced in all aspects of flora and vegetation surveys, including monitoring programs and targeted significant flora surveys, ranging from experimental design, logistics planning, desktop assessments, field surveys, data management, spatial mapping using GIS programs and reporting. She is proficient in literature reviews and detailed desktop assessments and is also experienced in applying her botanical knowledge to impact assessment processes, including having contributed to a number of complex approvals documents for high profile developments in Western Australia.

Megan Gray

Ecologist

Megan has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology from Curtin University. She has a range of practical experience in the environmental industry, including field surveys with consulting teams and for a number of PhD ecological research projects, as well as in specialist roles with a mining company in the South West of Western Australian. Specifically, Megan’s industry experience has included various flora, vegetation and fauna surveys and monitoring programs and she led the design of a long-term monitoring plan as part of a large-scale mine rehabilitation program. Megan also has capabilities in data management, statistical analysis, GIS and planning field studies. She is experienced in the methodologies utilised for biological surveys and reporting in accordance with current EPA guidance and continues to build on her environmental consulting career experience.

Olga Nazarova

Botanist

Olga has a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Genetics from the University of Western Australia.  She has a thorough knowledge of plant biology, physiology and ecology, and is skilled in formal taxonomic identification of plant specimens, particularly Western Australian taxa.  In collaboration with an accomplished Western Australian Herbarium botanist, Mike Hislop, Olga described and published a new species, Convolvulus pyrophilus, and updated the key for Convolvulus species of Western Australia.  Olga has gained valuable experience in conducting flora and vegetation surveys in various bioregions, including the Swan Coastal Plain, Wheatbelt, and the Pilbara.  Olga also has interests and skills in data analysis interpretation, and in the use of GIS software.

Taryn Brebner

Ecologist

Taryn is an ecologist with a speciality in botany and more than four years of consulting experience.  She has a track record conducting botanical assessments and monitoring across the Swan Coastal Plain and further afield in the South-West, as well as in the Wheatbelt and Mid-West regions.  Taryn has well-developed skills in floral recognition in the field, having worked in a seed collecting team for more than a decade, including in a supervisory role for most of this time.  In more recent years, Taryn’s responsibilities have shifted to processing, managing and reporting on collected data from both desktop and field assessments.  In addition to her specialist botanical knowledge, Taryn has supported a number of fauna surveys including trapping programs and she has a strong foundation understanding of the methodologies of such surveys and in fauna identification, particularly on the Swan Coastal Plan.  An adaptable professional, Taryn is a solutions-focused consultant with a strong drive to continue to build on her experience across broader areas of the State and to continue to develop her reporting skills.

Aishwarya Gujarathi

Graduate Botanist/Ecologist

Aish has completed studies and qualifications in a Masters of Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Science in Botany.  She is a motivated environmental scientist and specialist ecologist with a particular passion for the field of botany.  Aish is experienced in all aspects of environmental consulting, from desktop assessments, field planning, and conducting field assessments in remote and harsh environments; to data processing, including flora identification and GIS, and technical reporting.  Her specific project experience includes detailed flora and vegetation surveys for environmental impact assessments, weed mapping, vegetation and weed monitoring, fauna surveys, Black-Cockatoo habitat assessments and archaeological surveys for Aboriginal heritage assessments.  Aish’s field experience has been predominantly in the regions of the Pilbara, Goldfields, Avon Wheatbelt and Swan Coastal Plain.  Her keen interest in flora identifications has positioned Aish to assist and learn from FVC’s botanical taxonomists, with a view for her to specialise in this important capability as her career develops.

Sarah Beckwith

Undergraduate Ecologist

Sarah is an Environmental Biology student due to graduate in early 2023, and who has been working with the FVC team for much of 2022 and into 2023.  She has a passion for flora and fauna surveys and has gained practical experience across all stages of consulting project delivery, including working in the field, in remote and harsh environments.  Sarah has been involved in fauna, flora and vegetation surveys in the Pilbara and Perth regions.  She has contributed to various aspects of ecological assessments, including field preparations, field data collection, data entry and management, desktop assessments, GIS mapping and technical reports.  With her mature approach, Sarah is a valuable addition to our team and is rapidly building on her environmental consulting experience both in the field and in the office.

Vaida Seikyte

GIS Analyst

Vaida is a dedicated and career-oriented Geospatial and Environmental Specialist with over two years of experience in data preparation for environmental projects and risk assessments.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Geography and a Certificate of Geology.  Her expertise lies in utilising advanced GIS tools to conduct spatial analyses, modelling, and data visualisation. Vaida has a proven track record of conducting in-depth site research, leveraging LiDAR data analysis, and performing geology and geomorphology assessments to comprehensively understand and mitigate risks in coastal regions. Her skill set includes strong communication abilities and a talent for creative problem-solving, which she has honed through her work experiences.

Megan Rabadan

Office Administrator & Marketing Co-ordinator

Megan has been supporting the FVC team as Office Administrator for the past four years.  Following on from taking the lead on most of the marketing and events planning activities in the company, the Marketing Co-ordinator role has been formally added to her position.  In this role, Meg is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of all marketing materials and activities, including our website, blogs, graphics and social media.  She works closely with our digital marketing agency and graphic designer and plays an important role in supporting tender and proposal preparations.  In addition to her marketing role, Meg also continues to support the office administration functions in FVC, including keeping the team organised, looking after guests and assisting with bulk data management.

Linda Hosking

Office Administrator

Linda has an extensive and varied career background.  Her roles have been in administration, finance and small business ownership and operation, across a wide range of industries, from Local, State and Federal Government, mining, construction, industrial and environmental services.  Linda and her husband have been fortunate to travel to many States within Australia and explore life’s experiences in many different regions and locations, resulting in developing her wide-ranging knowledge in the administration environment, with high standards of accuracy, organisational skills, customer service, finance and communication.  With her recent career background in the environmental services industry, Linda’s administrative skills complement the growing FVC team.
