Welcome Kelly!

Last week, the FVC team excitedly welcomed our new Graduate Ecologist, Kelly Hopkinson!  

Having grown up on a remote cattle station and farms, Kelly has a genuine passion for the environment and the outdoors. 

Kelly has a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biological Sciences and Conservation and Wildlife Biology, from Murdoch University.  She has a range of practical experience in the environmental and eco-tourism industries, with experience working in the field, including in remote and harsh environments, predominantly in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.  Kelly has been involved with several biological surveys throughout Western Australia including vertebrate fauna surveys of Yanchep National Park and environmental impact assessments of native flora on the Swan Coastal Plain.  Other specific experience includes in-field bushfire monitoring in the Pilbara, wildlife rehabilitation in the Amazon rainforest and the identification and curation of vertebrate fauna specimens at the Western Australian Museum.  Kelly is experienced in the methodologies utilised for biological surveys and reporting in accordance with current EPA guidance and is rapidly building on her environmental consulting career experience.  

When she’s not busily working as a consultant, Megan enjoys gardening, hiking, The upcoming field season will see Kelly return to her beloved Pilbara for several trips with her new FVC teammates.   

In her own time, Kelly enjoys cooking, and spending time with friends, especially taking roads trips and camping.
